Dreams come true …….

You know the internet has a certain magic karma it has added sparkle light , kindness and also friendship into people’s lives – the main rule of thumb is the more you give out the more your receive in return.

So since we started the Tumblr we have discovered some amazing bloggers and some genuine friendship all be it across the internet and some days in all your heart you wish you had a wand which you could wave and sprinkle magic dust and make wonderful things happen ………
But then I remembered I am a blogger and if I put a wish out a PR – Brand or Social Media Company can make this happen … can’t they!

You see almost all day I see two fabulous Bloggers chatting and interacting and having a scream and also giving advice to other Bloggers and yet they are miles apart…… and someone could bring them together.

I am talking about @sera_mcdaid and @Kathroooon who are ….

Que Sera Sera @sera_mcdaid who lives in Ballymoney in Northern Ireland and she writes the fabulous The Agoraphobic Fashionista and her partner in crime is Kathryn @Kathroooon who lives in South Shields in Tyne and Wear and she writes MissKathryn's MissTakes …………

Now to me I can see a great tie up and masses of wonderful PR for brands if these girls got together ……

So let’s start off with the basics ……….. I’m hoping that either the Easyjet or Flybe press team see this and give either one of the ladies a flight ………..

And if you could throw @BigFashionista Kellie Hill from London with a video camera it would be a riot especially with her Onsie.

Rebranding

Okay here is the thing …… started the Blogger Bitches in November 2012 because we had been just battered by social media “folk” and brands with for want of a better word their silliness and all because they don’t get Bloggers.

We realised after a short while we are not alone ………. A huge thanks to the lovely blogger followers who have made our life so much richer for knowing you guys

So we have now rebranded to Blogger Queens and yes in essence I am a queen ………… we had long suspected the PR community didn't like the name Bitches but they love the blog ……..

Now in real life if someone asked me to change my stance because one sector of business felt they didn't like the wording my reply would be “get over yourself “……… but I am being realistic and thinking that if the Tumblr is actually showing up what is wrong with social media when they try to cookie cutter Bloggers instead of harnessing the Blogger power then maybe one day the penny will drop and they will talk to us individually.

So PR’s – Brands – Social Media companies time to step up to the plate – Bloggers are and never will be magazines or newspapers they are individual labours of love and devotion so time for you to get over it and work with us not try and squash a very round peg in a very square hole …….. we have changed for you ………. But everything has a price !

The Queen has spoken ………..

Blogger Toolbox Affiliate Window

Making money from your blog with Affiliate Windows

As mentioned in previous posts, there are a number of networks out there to assist you with your affiliate marketing efforts. Choosing the right network for you is key in helping you to monetise your website to the best of its potential.

Here are a few considerations to take into account before making your choice: -

1)      What retailers/ brands the network works with and whether these are of interest to you
2)      Does the network have a relationship with retailers you regularly mention on your blog or website and importantly are there new brands you would consider promoting through that network
3)      What tools does the network provide to get you started
4)      How easy is the interface to use and does it provide you with all the information you’d like to see
5)      Payment methods
a.      Consider what the minimum payment threshold is – Payment threshold refers to the minimum amount of money you must earn from your affiliate links before payment is paid into your bank account
b.      How often are you paid and does this suit you
6)      How much support will the network realistically be able to provide you

Due to the number of networks operating within the UK alone, why choose Affiliate Window. To us this is an easy decision - Affiliate Window is the UK’s number one affiliate marketing network, winning a host of awards including best network innovation for their Darwin user interface. We have won the Affiliates Choice of Network award for five years in a row, Publisher Support choice for 3 and have over a third of the affiliate market share. We work with a portfolio of 1800+ retailers and brands across a wide range of sectors, from fashion and travel through to finance and electronics. To give you a taster of the types of retailers we work with these range from the likes of Vodafone, Sky, Currys, and Dixon through to Very.co.uk, House of Fraser, Hilton Hotels and Lastminute.com. A full list of our retailers and brands can be found here.

We have a dedicated Publishers Services team, who act as a source of support and knowledge for all affiliates on the network (i.e. website owners and bloggers) and are always willing to provide a helping hand to those of you who are new to affiliate marketing. The team help affiliates to identify opportunities and demands that need to be met by retailers and help champion the affiliate to the retailer and the preferred payment model that they wish to work on. This can be on the traditional CPA model (you get paid a % commission for each successful sale/ action you generate), a CPC (cost per click) or CPM (cost per mille/1000) model.

We have two dedicated specialists within the team, one for fashion and beauty and the other for travel and electronics. Their role involves looking for new affiliates to work with and act as the main point of call for bloggers and website owners interested in promoting specific brands within these sectors. They really are dedicated to their specialist role and provide an incredible level of support to affiliates operating within their sectors.

A live chat service has recently launched within the Darwin (name of the Affiliate Window interface) interface allowing all affiliates to speak to a member of the publisher team instantly and receive an immediate response to any queries or requests that they may have.

With the level of support offered, a huge portfolio of clients, access to links and creative, a simple interface and a dedicated team to guide you through the sign up and start up process, no question is too silly to ask and we’ll happily answer anything thrown our way. We even offer a £30 referral fee for every website owner, friend or blogger you in turn recommend to sign up and start making money themselves. More information on this can be found here

For more information please do feel free to contact the team at publisherservices@affiliatewindow.com or alternatively sign up straight away here and jump on live chat if you have any problems. We’ll be following up this post with a more detailed article about our tool set that we have available to help you with your affiliate marketing activity so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

Pearls Of Wisdom from Bangsandabun

If you’re a blogger and you don’t know Bangs allow me to introduce you to a great blogger but also someone who is a real grafter – she has put the hours in and she knows what she is talking about – we love this post by her as it is a lesson to all bloggers ……….
Please heed and remember we all need to act humble someday’s
I met with a PR last week who regaled me with stories of how she gets bombarded with requests for free product from bloggers. Oh dear. I always feel a little embarrassed as a blogger when I hear that. I’ve written before about the sense of entitlement newer bloggers seem to have, but perhaps it’s time we examined in more detail how the PR/blogger relationship works specifically in relation to free product.
The great thing about blogging is that you can be your own boss and make your own rules. That is also one of the things that makes it a bit of a minefield for PRs. I think as the power and influence of the blogger grows, there has been a tendency for bloggers to…how shall I put this? Be a bit up our own asses. So let’s look at how and why product is distributed to bloggers.
How do I get on a PRs radar?
This is a question I’m often asked, mostly by new bloggers. I find it an odd question. I blogged for two years with no knowledge that PRs even looked at blogs . Whether or not you are in contact with PRs or ‘on their radar’ should have no bearing in how well you blog. Your first, and really only priority when you start out, should be producing good content. If you feel you need an abundance of free product in order to be able to do that, well, you got into this for the wrong reasons.
You will get on a PRs radar when you are producing good work that interests them. When you have an audience who are reacting to and sharing your posts. But being on their radar should be far from your main concern when starting out.
Why won’t they send me things?
Well there are a number of reasons. PRs are usually allocated a certain amount of product. They distribute that to the people they feel will be able to get the word out best. Keep in mind, the PRs have to justify their every move to the brand, their client. So, imagine being the PR in the client meeting trying to justify why they sent product to a brand new blogger who doesn’t have much of an audience or influence, they just, you know, badgered you until you gave them something. Awkward conversation. Wrongly targeting your media outreach, well, that’s the kind of thing that can lose you a client.
It’s all good getting in a huff about it, but just think about it from a brand perspective. If I were a brand, I’d absolutely want my product to go to bloggers with good traffic, lots of Twitter followers, a proven influence that will benefit my brand. It’s a business.
Can I approach a PR?
Absolutely. I do, if they work with a brand I feel is in keeping with my blog, definitely. But I always outline why it would be beneficial for them to work with me, what my blog and brand can deliver, the type of coverage I can provide. Discussing stats always seems to be a bit taboo, but this is the one instance where you should be expected to cough them up. And let’s stop with the inflating of statistics too, shall we? There are tools that anyone can use to find out the kind of traffic you get, so inflating them can often leave you looking a bit silly. Just be honest – if what you have to offer isn’t right for that brand, it might be right for another.
But I want to do reviews and stuff!
And you can still do that. There are plenty of people doing reviews and talking about brands who are getting no kickback whatsoever from the brand itself. There are plenty of fashion bloggers who do daily ‘what I wore’ type posts using clothes they’ve bought themselves, same goes for beauty bloggers and other genres. The key to a blog taking off is in your passion, your knowledge, your expertise – work with what you have for now and down the road, when you’ve built up a following and a reputation for doing good posts around your chosen subject, PRs and brands will take notice. It takes time.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: it all comes down to hard work and patience.

Bloggers Tool Box -Commission Junction

Making money from your blog with Commission Junction

If you want to make money from your website or blog, signing up to an affiliate network like Commission Junction should be your first port of call. Blogger Bitches explained the concept of affiliate marketing in a previous post – essentially, it’s a method of promoting brands through your website on cookied links so that you can earn a commission on any sale that happens as a result of a click from your site – but we wanted to give you a bit of insight into what an affiliate network like us does to make this happen.

The affiliate industry is a big business. There are currently around 4,000 brands in the space working with over 10,000 publishers (an industry term for bloggers or website owners that publish ads or promotional links online) to drive sales on the net. With volumes like this, it’s clear that you need a good middleman to facilitate the process. This is where the affiliate network comes in.

Networks wear a lot of different hats. At our core, we provide the ‘science bit’ using our own technology to generate links that will remember where a click came from and where it was driving traffic to, matching that information up when sales are generate for a brand. We host creative for clients giving you access to a range of banners and product feeds that allow you to promote specific products or to align your content with existing brand campaigns. We also provide an interface that allows you to track your performance, seeing how many clicks on your site have generated sales and how much money you’re making from the activity. And most importantly, we make sure you get paid, depositing commissions from clients directly into a designated bank account.

A good affiliate network will also be great at relationships, actively looking to partner publisher websites with brands that complement one another’s audiences, whilst keeping you in the loop with the latest offers from your advertisers.

There are a number of Networks in the frame, so why partner with CJ? Well, we are a global affiliate network, so you only need one account with us to promote brands world-wide. We embrace all types of publisher models, from content to cashback, and have a dedicated publisher team to offer help and guidance to those who are new to the market. We also have a toolbox that publishers can use, so you don’t have to worry about creating all the savvy bits by yourself. This toolbox includes dynamic banners, video creative, bespoke product feeds, and deep-linking functionality to allow you to create links that go straight to the products you’re writing about.

We work with hundreds of well-known brands in a variety of sectors from Argos in the retail sector, to Gap and Banana Republic in fashion, and Thompson in travel to name but a few.  Whatever your website is about, there’s a good chance that you can partner with us to make money from something you’re already doing.

For more information about CJ, please visit our website www.uk.cj.com; our blog www.cjblog.co.uk; or contact a member of the team on 020 8785 5480 or support@uk.cj.com

Bloggers Tool Box – Owning Your Blog ……..

If you’re expecting to be taken seriously then you need to own your blog – if you’re on BlogSpot it is easy to transfer over it’s literally one click and a credit/ debit card and it does everything.

On WordPress.com, you can use a custom domain for your blog (such as yourgroovydomain.com) instead of the default address you get when you sign up (like yourgroovydomain.wordpress.com). This is called Domain Mapping, and it’s a paid upgrade:
Registering a .com, .org, or .net domain through WordPress.com and mapping that domain to your blog starts at $18.00 per domain and per year, or $25.00 per domain and per year for a .me domain. For $8.00 more, you can also make the domain registration private-Mapping a domain you already own costs $13.00 per domain, per year.
So both are simple – so do get professional

Bloggers Tool Box - A way to make money from your blog

A way to make money from your blog ……….
I am going to say a word which people bandy about but no one explains and then I will explain how it works – it is like a secret club and the reason it is a secret club is the people who run the schemes which make money have no idea about PR or marketing to bloggers and everyone uses the word which no one understands.

Affiliates – which means money making tracking cookies on your links from your blog to the retailer / brands website so if someone clicks through and buys you get a % commission – yes it’s that easy once you have signed up ……. Just a small point if you haven’t got a proper URL as in your using BlogSpot or WordPress and haven’t bought your domain name you can’t join an affiliate scheme learn how to here

Now as you read this you might think we are labouring some points etc but communication skills are not found at affiliate companies and trust me it’s worth the pain when you see your first sale- the happy dance ……..

First off you need your bank details and a paper and pen to make notes of all your pass words and sign in’s and your blog ID on each scheme -I will list the affiliate schemes we use and have all the major retailers and brands on and their phone numbers and I suggest you spend some time one day not at night as it will frustrate the hell out of you and you’ll need some guidance on one or two bits. There are other affiliate schemes but some of them are very difficult to use (and life is short) – Amazon also has a scheme but wading through their jargon is like getting a PHD in nuclear science.

So when you look at the site remember these key bits – first you become a publisher – blogger = publisher in affiliate world and retailer / brand = advertiser …….

Affiliate Window 02075530425

LinkShare 02070310950

Trade Doubler 02077985800

Webgains 02072691230

Commission Junction 020 8785 5870

So click on and sign up – you will be asked to tick lots of boxes and then in some cases they need verification of your site – I suggest you phone up and do it over the phone it’s easier and also avoids confusion (communication is not their strong point)-I suggest you fill as much as possible on your blog so people can what you do-Next look at the advertisers (brands and retailers) you now need to apply to each brand/ retailer – which mean just ticking some boxes & adding your blog.
Now when you blog and you add a link you do Deep Linking – each affiliate scheme has a different way of doing it but we will cover these on another blog post ………but once you get going it’s easy trust us we are a blogger

It is not difficult and the rule of thumb is the more you blog the more you link the more chance of money.

Lillies and Love

This is the lovely Lillies and Love

How long have you been blogging?
I started originally around 2009 and dipped in and out of it, however, it was around a year ago that I got in to it properly.
How often do you blog?
I don't put too much pressure on myself when it comes to frequency of blogging.  Sometimes I blog once a week, sometimes daily, but I'd say it's probably more likely to be 2-3 times a week.
Is your blog a hobby or is it work?
A hobby, definitely and I love it!
What is the main focus of your blog?
My blog probably falls into the 'Lifestyle' category; I write it almost as a kind of 'diary', I write about life, my thoughts, my feelings, and what's going on in the world.  It's very open and honest.
Do you do guest posts?
I have featured guest posts on my blog when I've been on holiday in the past and would definitely love to feature more in the future.
Do you do tutorials?
No, I don't really feel I'm knowledgeable enough on any subject to be in a position to give advice/instructions!
Where are you blogging from?
Essex
